Kammok Roo Camping Hammock Review

Launched through Kickstarter back in 2011, Kammok claims itself as “the world’s best camping hammock.” Spacious, durable and colorful, the Kammok Roo Camping Hammock is loaded with features to back up its claim.
Why sit when you can lie down, right? This superb quality hammock comes with a suspension system that is easy to handle, and the entire setup can be put together in a matter of few minutes. Read more to see if the Kammok Roo is the right hammock for you.
Product Performance
Comfort: The Kammok Roo Camping Hammock is incredibly comfortable and makes for a great camping hammock or a campside lounger. The proprietary “LunarWave” diamond ripstop nylon feels great on the skin and is strong enough to support two (very close) friends. Simply put, sleeping in the Roo feels incredibly comfortable.
Part of what makes the Kammok Roo so comfortable is that setup is so versatile, you can really hang it almost anywhere on your hike. However, you’ll want to purchase a set of Python Straps if you want to comfortably set up your hammock in various spaces.
Weight: Weighing in at 23 oz with the included slings, the Roo is a good choice for the ultralight backpacker. However, the slings are rather basic and you’ll want to upgrade to another pair if you are really serious about hammock camping, which may add to the weight. Like all parachute hammocks adding rainflys and bug nets will increase the total weight.
The Kammok Roo Camping Hammock also has a carrying capacity of 500 pounds. With its size, it’ll be hard to find someone that can’t comfortably fit in the Roo.
Versatility: The Roo is incredibly versatile and has a ton of separate accessories that are available for purchase. The Kammock Roo comes with tree slings, although they are rather limited and you’ll have to pray for two perfectly positioned trees every time you want to set up your Roo. The Glider rainfly and Dragonfly mosquito net transforms the Roo into an all-season camping shelter. However when combined with the price point of the Roo and additional cost of the Python straps, buying a full set up can be a costly affair – especially when compared to the Serac Sequoia or ENO SingleNest hammocks, which include daisy chain straps right out of the box.
Once you do have a full set up, the Roo is incredibly easy to use and can be set up almost anywhere. It’s comfortable and you’ll have a good time relaxing in the hammock at night.
Conclusion
The Kammok Roo Camping Hammock is a premium parachute hammock that feels incredibly comfortable to sleep in. It’s numerous accessories can turn the Roo into your primary shelter year round, although the steep price point to do so may deter many people from committing to using a Roo. However, for those that want a guaranteed night of comfort as well as a rugged and durable product, the Roo can be a good choice.

I loved my roo so much I bought another when REI had last years colors discounted. I am waiting for a bear butt I just ordered to come not certain what to expect but I bought it because I was really impressed with their marketing and Social Media team so I figured I would support a start-up company. I really haven’t found a negative review besides one and the bear butt team responded with a solution to it.
